Copperfields (formerly Credo Restaurant) is located in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges. The menu is what I would call contemporary Australian and with a set price on the mains of $35.90, or $39.90 for seafood, it is really good value for money.
You choose from a base of Sirloin Steak (King Island),Duck Breast, Chicken Breast (Glenloth), Flinders Island Lamb or Fish of the Day. Then you choose your sauce. If that sounds a bit bland it isn't. The 'sauces' are really accompaniments. I chose the French sauce which was crumbed and fried Camembert with home made onion marmalade. My husband chose the Danish sauce which was a Blue Vein & Fig Compote, Topped with Prosciutto Chards. Both were divine and the servings were more than enough, I struggled to finish mine but valiantly struggled on. All mains are served with seasonal vegetables & garlic rosemary potatoes.
The only slight let down was the dessert we chose. which we shared. This was the Copperfields Chocolate Medley. The chocolate mousse was wonderful but the rest wasn't chocolaty enough for my tastes. At $21.90 it was the most expensive on the menu and I felt it needed to be a little more spectacular. The other desserts all sounded yummy though and we will definitely be going back to try them out.
There is also a function room for larger gatherings and plenty of parking opposite the restaurant. With plenty of B&Bs to choose from and Spring flowers blooming, it's the ideal weekend away.
