Good Times Roll
Rock and roll is here to stay...
Fire up! Are you ready to punch it? "Wicked", "souped up", "rag tops" and "rods" are just a few words that come to mind. This is the place to be from Friday,May 29 to Monday, June 8. Just imagine over 2 km of swing music and dancing, rock'n'roll, stunning hot rods, bikes and amazing custom and classic cars all congregating in the streets of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads. Indeed Cooly Rocks on! Year after year, this continues to be Australia's biggest 50's and 60's nostalgia festival.
With zones spread out from Coolangatta to Tweed Heads there is so much to take in. Each day of the festival "The Marquee" brings to you a great lineup of live bands and entertainers by night and workshops, swing lessons etc by day. Check out the program to see what's on. For the motorcar enthusiast you will not want to miss "Garage Torque" with Jim Richards and Chad Adams on Friday, 5th June.
A big draw card is the ever popular Shannon's Show and Shine, presenting the best and greatest pre 1970 cars on June 6-7 at the Kirra Precinct, Jack Boat Harbour and the new location on the Corner of Chalk Street. This year promises to be better than ever. Do you have a favourite car?
For the poodles in our lives or our much loved and cherished pets; dress your pooch and enter the "Poodle-Oodle Parade" on June 7th.
Kirra Surf Precinct will have pop up surf stores, surf boards, kombies, panel vans and everything you can think of epitomising the 50's and 60's era. The Beach Boys, "Wouldn't it be nice" and "Good Vibrations" of the 60's will set the scene for the surf sound vibe.
Each day more and more cars will rock up culminating in the Grand Finale weekend where the streets indeed will come alive. With outdoor stages and the streets closed down the area will transform into a street festival with parades, shows, displays and competitions. It is expected there will be over 1000 cars from Kirra to Tweed Heads cruising and lining the streets each evening.

Don't miss the Street Parade on Saturday, 6th June, a street stopper of dancers, retro cars, music, brilliant floats and everything rockabiliy.
And, with over 100 retro market stalls and 100 craft market stalls to browse through; you can take your taste buds on a journey back to the 50s and 60s with vintage styled food and join in the family street festival atmosphere.
The festival is free to enter and tickets to indoor shows may be purchased online or at the door.
Whether you are an entrant or spectator you will love the atmosphere Cooly Rocks On Festival brings to Coolangatta and Tweed Heads. The enthusiasm and love of everything 50's and 60's will take you back to that era. Passionate and dedicated people who take a lot of pride in restoring their cars and bikes, all with a lot of love, patience and commitment. It is awe inspiring and a fantastic hobby. I know, my Father started his love of Triumphs with a 1966 Herald and has tenderly restored his Triumph TR6 and recently bought a Triumph 2000 to tinker around on. Having a family of 4 girls who were not the slightest bit interested in anything mechanical did not deter his love of cars. Nothing gives him more joy now than taking his car and Mum on classic car club rallies around the country in NZ and it's good to see the Grandson's following in his footsteps.
