Coolum Business & Tourism and Visit Coolum are once again proudly bringing to Coolum their Flicks in the Park, commencing on Saturday 21 December. As mentioned in Mooloolaba Cinema in the Sand, there is nothing quite like being outdoors on a starry, starry night, surrounded by friends and family, settling in on a picnic rug, to enjoy a family movie together.
The five FREE scheduled movies for Coolum Flicks in the Park will be screened at Tickle Park in Coolum, smack bang on the beach. There's a playground for the kids, electric BBQs to cook up a storm, plus the inviting sound of the waves to tempt you into the water for a refreshing dip.
A side-splittingly, funny Christmas movie telling the story of a young orphan child, who inadvertently crawls into Santa's sack of gifts on Christmas Eve and is transported back to the North Pole to be raised as an elf. Years go by before Buddy learns that he is not really an elf and so begins his journey to New York City to find his true self.
🎞 Finding Dory | PG Saturday 28 December | 6.00pm to 8.00pm
Finding Dory reunites all the favourite buddies - Dory, the forgetful blue tang, and her pals, Nemo and Marlin, on Dory's quest to find answers to her past. Dory is really trying to remember! Who are her parents? And where exactly did she learn to speak 'Whale'?
Finding Dory is a feel-good movie where everyone gets to learn a few things about the real meaning of family.
🎞 The Greatest Showman | PG Saturday 4 January | 6.00pm to 8.00pm
Hugh Jackman is always worthwhile going to see ...
One of our all-time favourite Australian superstars, Hugh Jackman, shows off his inimitable acting skills in The Greatest Showman. This is an original musical that commemorates the beginning of show business, telling the story of a visionary who rises from nothing to producing a universally appealing extravaganza.
🎞 Captain Underpants | G Saturday 11 January | 6.00pm to 8.00pm
Two very creative pranksters, named George and Harold, hypnotise their school principal into believing he's a ridiculously enthusiastic, incredibly dimwitted superhero, called Captain Underpants. Captain Underpants is based on novels by the same name.
🎞 Paddington | PG Saturday 18 January | 6.00pm to 8.00pm
Paddington is all about a young Peruvian bear, who actually walks and talks. This adventurous young bear's travels take him from the jungles of Peru to London, in search of a new home. Finding himself lost and alone at Paddington Station, Paddington the bear meets the warm-hearted Brown family, who offer him a temporary safe haven.
All Coolum Flicks in the Park aim to commence at sunset, round about the 6 pm'ish mark. Pack a picnic, or organise some takeaways from the local cafe's, find a good viewing spot on the lawn for your picnic rug, bean bag or chair and settle in for a fabulous night of movies under the stars. If you get there early enough, why not check out the FREE Coolum Beach Public Art Trail, it's a fun way to spend a couple of hours on a different sort of treasure hunt for the kids.
