Coco (G)
According to my 'sources' - that really sounds pretty clandestine, doesn't it? - when
Coco was released a year ago (2017) in the USA and in Mexico, it very quickly became Disney's highest-rated movie ever! Quite an accolade!
Coco is an animated musical that tells the story of a music-loving twelve year old boy, Miguel, whose adventures take him to the Land of the Dead. Sounding a bit grim? Luckily the movie,
Coco, has a Mexican setting, which ensures lots of bright and vibrant colours, and according to glowing reports I've read, is a very touching and spirited movie.
Make sure you're at Coolum Beach Outdoor Cinema on Saturday 5 January to find out how and why
Coco is the only Disney movie in the top ten on the IMDB's (Internet Movie Database - thanks Wikipedia) list of highest-rated movies of all time.

Jumanji - Welcome to the Jungle (PG)
Four high school friends discover an old video game console and are drawn into the game's jungle setting, becoming the adult avatars that they chose. What they discovered is that you don't just play
Jumanji … you must survive it!
Jumanji sounds very exciting and scary all at the same time!

Paper Planes (Australia Day Movie) (G)
Paper Planes is a story of a young boy living in Australia, who discovers he has a talent for making paper planes and dreams of competing in the World Paper Plane Championships in Japan.
I love the slogan from
Paper Planes 'If at first you don't succeed, fly, fly again' - isn't that awesome!
All movies, brought to you by
Starry Nights Outdoor Movies, generally start just as it gets dark in the evenings, but the organisers suggest getting to Tickle Park early to find a comfy patch of grass for your picnic rug, bean bag or chair. Bring a picnic hamper, or organise some takeaways from across the road, and settle in for a fun night of movies, under the stars. Summer nights, summer delights!
Here's an alternative idea: Make it a whole afternoon outing to Coolum Beach and check out the
FREE Coolum Beach Public Art Trail. It's a fabulous way to spend a couple of hours and a different sort of treasure hunt for the children. A win-win for everybody!
