is located at the corner of Capricornia Highway and Columba Street Blackwater. Blackwater is a small rural town in Central Highland Region Queensland, about 195km from Rockhampton. Travelling during the Christmas holiday, we couldn't find many places that were open to have a bite for lunch. We stumbled upon this cafe and they were open, so we decided to poke around.
They have quite a spacious eating area inside the cafe as well as a small table outside on their verandah. Like other small roadhouse-type eating places, this place offers sandwiches and hot food such as burgers, chicken strips and even a seafood basket that was on special that day.
They also make coffee as well as offer plenty of options for cold drinks. Some snacks and ice creams can also be found here.
They were quite busy that day but the two girls behind the counter were very quick to serve all their customers.
Curious about why they choose this unusual name for their cafe? I went to this
site and found out the story behind the name. The Coolabah Tree, being a large wide-spreading tree with an abundance of shady foliage, was the perfect place to rest under and enjoy a meal in the olden days. Hence inthese days , with 19 outlets around Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia, provides a comfortable place for travellers to rest and enjoy wholesome freshly prepared food. You can find Blackwater on their
Facebook page .
