The name says it all

Ever wondered what happens at Victoria's iconic Mt Hotham in the summer months? Are the winter ski slopes just a summer playground for native wildlife? Are the lodges inhabited by bushwalkers and bird-watchers? Or is it the most epic party of the summer, and you've been missing out? All will be answered at Cool Summer Festival, where for one weekend, these hills are coming alive with the sound of fantastic local music.

From Friday 30 January to Sunday 1 February 2015, Mt Hotham will host the eighth annual Cool Summer Festival. Imagine watching The Delta Riggs, Dallas Frasca, Timberwolf, Battle Axe Howlers, DJ Eddy take to the stage as you are enchanted by the 360 degree views of Victoria's High Country. Others on the bill include local Hotham favourite Benny Williams, Melbourne rockers F@#k the Fitzroy Doom Scene, funk trio The Kite Machine and all the way from Adelaide, soulful rockers These Blessed Bones.

Cool Summer Festival 30 Jan - 1 Feb 2015

Cool Summer Festival is a throwback to the way Festival's used to be. It's a family-friendly affair, with zero tolerance towards anti-social behavior or environmental damage. Just a chilled out environment, great music, food and drinks shared with friends in a special part of the world. Festival orgainsers have made the decision to stay independent and not take on commercial sponsorship, and as a result the vibe has not been contaminated with commercialism. You can expect low security, BYO during the day, cheap tickets and a general laid back, enjoyable vibe.

The Festival is held in the Hotham Alpine Resort on Great Alpine Rd. Mt Hotham. The snow bunnies amongst us will know this as a snowy grand central from July August annually, however in January the view is much more rugged, with the view more akin to The Man From Snowy River. The village is at 1750 meters altitude and is accessible by car via The Great Alpine Road. Cool Summer Festival are also running shuttle buses that circle all the major resorts and camping grounds in at Hotham and to Harrietville, so you can choose the accommodation of your choice and not worry about proximity to the Festival epicenter.

Tickets to the Festival are now on sale and are extremely reasonable for the offering. Tickets are just $93.50 for the three days, or you can pot for a camping and music package for $104.50 (limited availability). This gives you access to the Festival's campsite amongst the iconic snowgums. As Festival organisers say 'that's a bargain for three days of music and indulgence in the middle of nowhere with the luxury of everything.' Children under the age of 16 are free with a paying adult and there are loads of activities to keep them entertained while you sit back and enjoy the tunes. There is face painting and free kids activities that run all day on the Big D.

Cool Summer Festival was also recently named as one of the top boutique Festivals in Australia by trusted online music mag ToneDeaf.

Hotham (and Falls, Dinner Plain) are great places to visit in Summer - so many things to do and it can be done wearing shorts and a T-Shirt !
