Want to enjoy a nice bike ride along a lovely waterway or just take a nice relaxing stroll? Well, then the Cooks River Cycleway is the way to go. The ride starting from Settlers Park in Ryde through Gough Whitlam Park and finally arriving at Botany Bay will leave you flabbergasted with all the great spots for BBQ's and picnics along the river.

The 23km length of river has beautiful scenery including many wildlife to see which can be viewed endlessly just by stopping at the many parks along the way. If you're lucky you may spot the pelican who resides near Canterbury. Even if you can't make it all the way to the end like me, try and get at least halfway and there you will meet lovely parks including Gough Whitlam Park, Tasker Park and Beaman Park.

Nearby Beaman Park you can experience great facilities including Canterbury Aquatic and Fitness Centre as well as Canterbury ice rink.

It's great to plan ahead and organise fun outings with friends and family and remember to bring water if you're going the whole way to keep hydrated as well as bringing some snacks. Throughout your trip you will encounter many playground areas to keep your children happy and motivated to continue the journey. For the ones who are walking or riding along for a good exercise halfway you will encounter stops to strengthen and relax your muscles through exercises such as push ups and sit ups.

Luckily, along the way you pass through many suburbs. So if you're well prepared and have a map you can easily track yourself to the nearest train station in case you get tired, which is usually a 5-10 minute walk which can help you cool down after your long exercise.

This is an awesome ride, did this a year or so ago. Started my ride from Belrose, ended up at the airport and then Brighton Le Sands. Nothing like a quiet ride to clear the head.
