Kids are going to have a ball at the
FREE Cooking Classes with Jordan and Anna Bruno . Be sure to register so they can learn how to make delicious wood-fired pizza using the best local produce and of course they get to eat their creation at the end. If you have kids with a competitive edge, they can enter the
Sandcastle Competition . A friendly comp making the most of sand and sea, it's for kids of all ages to try their hand at sand sculpting.
Winners will receive Coogee Live dinner vouchers.
If the children just want to take in shows, they'll find
Curtis & Martha's Ocean Adventure Show at the
LiveLighter Community Hub.
Adventure Kids Entertainment specialise in providing original kids shows featuring awesome characters that will delight children and adults. Their family friendly shows are fun, interactive and memorable and are proudly made in WA.
For kids who want to attend workshops, there's the
Generosity Circus Workshop where they can try their hand at an array of circus equipment and circus skills. The
Brolga Hand Puppet Workshop will have the children creating their own puppet using a range of soft fabric materials, and the difficulty level can be adapted for different age ranges. They can also see two giant sparkling and roving
Brolga roving bird puppets by Spare Puppet Theatre as they move gracefully through and above the festival crowd. Other roving entertainers include
Dangerous Delights with their close contact fire manipulation and fire eating. For kids who want to be a pirate, head for a crash course in creative craft activities with the
Pirateman Treasure Map & Trash to Treasure Chest Workshops .
If you're heading to the event sustainably on a bike, there's a FREE secure VIP
Bikewise Valet Bike Parking service near the Coogee Beach Tennis Courts and the LiveLighter-Community Hub. Some lucky riders will also score a free bike check and tune by the bike experts at BikeWise. You can also get tips to help your children ride on two wheels via balance bikes and
Bikewise Balance Bike Sessions . Bring your own bike or try one of theirs.
Mermaids are for everyone! Head down to the Coogee Beach and watch the water closely. You just might see a mermaid pop up so stay and play and chat with these friendly creatures and make sure you get a pic with them as well. They tell tales of ocean life, grant mermaid wishes and give soggy cuddles, sandy high-fives and the occasional cheeky splash. Ask them how to keep our precious oceans clean and do your bit by collecting 3 pieces of litter. Grab a
'Take 3 for the Sea' selfie at the
Clean Ocean Cockburn stand (just near the mermaids), post it on Facebook or Instagram tagging #take3fortheseacockburn and go into the competition to win a trip to Rottnest!
There's so much entertainment and activities on hand, you really need to
peruse the program for
ALL events, and don't forget, there's even more to come! Enjoy music from
Grace Barbe who hails from the sunburnt Indian Ocean islands of the Seychelles. Her music fuses the tropical rhythms and dances of the slaves with psychedelic rock, afrobeat, reggae and pop.
Joan & The Giants are emotionally raw, poetic, fiercely powerful yet ambient, with booming drums and soaring vocals; a perfect mixture of many different sounds, styles and genres, ultimately cultivated into an alt-pop sound.
A large sized
Pin Wall invokes a lot of fun for the whole family as does an engaging showcase of some of the amazing makers at the
Makers Market . You could also try some
FREE Scuba Diving with Perth Scuba, so bring your bathers, towel, and sun protection. All dive equipment will be provided and you'll be fitted for your experience. Check-in at their registration tent in the
LiveLighter Omeo Hub and they will take you down into the water from there. This HUGE event needs to be experienced to be believed, so take family and friends and head down for a full-on fun day at Coogee Live.
