Living in Mt Lawley, you're quite spoilt for choice in regard to cafes and restaurants. There is one that is not so visible but will reward those that seek it out. Situated on a street corner in the middle of suburbia is Coode St Cafe.
From the first of many visits I could detect a strong community feeling to this place with its attentive staff and friendly customer banter. You sense that there are many regulars who may drop in just for a coffee or perhaps meet the family or friends for a meal.
The coffee (Fiori) is always of a high standard and this morning I enjoyed poached egg with bacon on New Norcia toast and my wife had corn fritters served with avocado and tomato salsa, rocket and capsicum relish. The menu includes a good variety of options with healthy alternatives and also caters for those on a gluten free diet.

Although you can sit inside, I prefer to sit in the area out the front and relax in a quiet setting watching the people pass by. Another bonus is the opportunity to bring your dog along on a lead and sit them down next to your table outside.
Coode St Cafe is open for breakfast and lunch Mon- Sat 7-5pm and Sunday 8-5pm. There is also a very good range of takeaway food on display from pies to quiches and frittatas. Everything is made on the premises. What better excuse to take your dog for a walk.
