Come and Mooch on Coochie
Mooch means to loiter in a bored way so it's not really appropriate but I like how it rhymes. There is so much to do here you can't possibly stay bored.

1. Safe swimming beach
This is great for small children or non-swimmers. Best swimming is to be had at high tide so check times and organise your day around this.

Still shallow water for beginners.

2. Old fashioned beach fun
Too cold to swim? Then build sandcastles, skim stones, collect shells, draw in the sand, and dig holes.

Skimming stones.

The beaches still have an abundance of shells.

Sandcastles never go out of style.

2. Fishing
Judging by the variety of places I've seen fishermen you can fish just about anywhere. There are often people on the jetty late at night.

Fishing is popular.

3. Photography
If you like shooting boats, beaches, driftwood or birds you'll be kept busy here.

Lots to photograph.

4. Relaxed vibe
You don't actually have to do anything. Bring a towel, a beach chair or a floating device and lay back with a book or an ice cream and chill out.

Time to have fun with family.

5. Ferry Ride
Little kids find the ferry ride itself exciting and adults can feel themselves leaving their worries behind during the short trip.

Catching the ferry is relaxing.

6. Crab hunt
At low tide hundreds of soldier crabs scurry across the sand. At Morwong Beach you may find hermit crabs if you look hard enough

Soldier crabs are so cute.

6. Easy walking tracks
As well as beach walks you can wander through the Melaluca Forest or through the Mangroves.

Your Comment
It is a lovely place - and when I lived on the southside of Brisbane I was a regular visitor. Thank you for your article. I must go again soon.

It's even better if you stay there. I've stayed at Morwong Beach Cottage with sea view and Gindabara ( large group) - both on Airbnb. Can't wait to go back.
