Coochiemudlo Island is a small island located between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Lying in Moreton Bay, its shallow beaches and mangroves are protected from the breakers of the South Pacific.
Coochie, as the island is affectionately known, is easily reached by a 10-minute ferry trip from Victoria Point. Although only 5 square kilometres in size, it boasts more than 4 km of beautiful safe beaches, making it ideal for the children.
On Sunday, 1st of December, the Coochiemudlo Progress Association will be presenting their Christmas Beach Markets from 9am to 2pm.
Yes, I know, markets are everywhere at the moment with their bric-a-brac, local produce, and arts and crafts.
The point of difference is that you can make it a day out for the whole family with the markets at Coochie. There will be music and food available on the Main Beach, close to the playground equipment, and there are Cafes nearby.
Pack the suntan lotion, sun hats and water bottles and the children can wear themselves out on the shoreline. You can walk, explore, and reward yourselves with a sausage cooked by the local Men's Shed. You can take the little ones to see Santa and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if you picked up a few Christmas gifts at the same time.
Coochimudlo Christmas Markets are the perfect Brisbane summer excursion. See you there!
