Coochiemudlo Island, off the coast of Queensland and only a short ferry ride from Victoria Point, has been a favourite destination for weekend warriors for many years. The island boasts spectacular beaches, varied wildlife species and an endless list of recreational activities including a 9-hole golf course, a BMX track, two tennis courts, football ovals and more.

Annually, Coochiemudlo Island hosts markets only five times. This year, Australia Day is included in the dates.The island style markets are very close to Victoria Point ferry terminal in Flinders Park on Victoria Parade.

Browsing through the market stalls that include home-made jams and chutneys, traditional Greek sweets, cottage crafts, hand-made greeting cards, crystals and a selection of doll's clothes, you are sure to find an affordable treasure or ten to take home with you. For history buffs there is even a stall where volunteers from the historical society can answer all your questions about the islands colourful history.

The Australia Day markets will be brimming with live entertainment and fun for the kids as well as an Aussie tea and damper and barbecue - with beautiful Redlands Meat Hall sausages and steak and onion sandwiches. How could you resist!

Despite running from 8:00am until 1:00pm, there is no reason why you shouldn't stick around and take in the beautiful beach and views. Once you see them, you won't be able to get enough.

Ferries depart from Victoria Point on the hour and the city trains will take you there in no time at all.
