This month, on 22nd September, the Coochie Markets are being expanded into an island-wide Open Day with an amazing array of activities.

As well as the usual markets with food, art, music, bric a brac, plants, crafts and clothes, there will be focus areas with displays, talks and activities.

If you have never gone past the beach you will be able to walk, ride a bike or catch a bus/car around the island and see how the locals live.

Come early as there is so much to do:

ART and artists - see them in their workspace
everything NATIVE eg bush foods and plants
DISPLAYS on many topics: the Curlew Count, The Steam
Weeder, Bush food tasting, Bush care, Native Nursery, Car

MUSICIANS inspired by Coochie
WALKS- guided (8am) or self guided. Use the map or the voice map to follow the explanatory signs and explore the Melaluca Wetlands,The Beaches, The Mangroves or the Garden Trail.
TALKS about Bush Tucker, The Food Group, Emerald Fringe, the Herbarium & the Press Gang, Bush food and Moreton Bay & Climate Change.
FOOD - market stalls (Thai, pizza, sausages) plus 3 cafes
A Geo-cached TREASURE HUNT for all ages.

Wear comfortable shoes! You'll want to do it all.

Consider staying overnight. As well as Gindabara, Seminara Resort and the Oasis, there are Airbnb Rooms available.

Park at Victoria Point and catch the ferry on the hour and half hour. You need cash (Not Go Card). Tickets $5 adult one way.
