Re-enact the past
Coochiemudlo Island has regular markets during the year, the July one being my favourite as it includes the reenactment of Matthew Flinders landing on the Island.

Matthew Flinders

There are many ways of being involved:
Dress up in Colonial costume or decorate a trolley and join in the parade.
Visit the markets which have a variety of stalls including indigenous jewellery, art and craft, collectables and food.
Watch the reenactment at 11.40am on Norfolk Beach at a site just south of the Matthew Flinders Memorial.
Buy lunch from the market or the local cafes
Take the kids for the ferry ride and play on the beach. or hire a kayak.
The island's Emerald Fringe means that you can walk around the entire island at low tide.

Walk through the signposted Melaleuca Wetlands the beautiful beaches or the mangroves.
