A fascinating array of birdlife can be viewed from a wonderful bird hide nestled at the edge of the Coobowie estuary. These feathered friends often go about their own business and feed on the estuary's low water line.

With that in mind, artists Creature Creature and Jason Parker focused their water tank art design on the great egret, black swan, royal spoonbill, pelican, cape barren goose and pied oystercatcher - birds that rely on water as their home. Local plant species are depicted on the artwork too.

In addition, the shed next to the water tank has also been painted. People may or may not know this, but the rodeo was once an important part of Coobowie. Hence, it is being featured here as a tough and chaotic scene on a hard iron surface. I do agree that this design contrasts very well with the soft and subdued scene of the adjacent birdlife.

Coobowie water tank can be found just outside the town centre along Gumbowie Road. Although not as towering as those in nearby Stansbury and Edithburgh, this water tank art is still of great importance to the local community.
