This is exactly what my family and I did recently when we headed to the Yorke Peninsula. We took the time to spend with extended family, went for walks on the beach and spent time in the cabins drinking cups of tea and talking.
If you're looking for somewhere quiet, clean and about as close to the beach as you can get for a reasonable price, the Coobowie Caravan Park situated in the small seaside town of Coobowie is the perfect place to stay.
After driving the 227 kilometres from Adelaide on a stormy day we were happy to arrive on the Yorke Peninsula and easily found the caravan park. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating and the entire place has a family owned vibe.
We stayed in an Ensuite Cabin and although small, it had everything we needed and was possibly the cleanest cabin we have ever stayed in. And for $95 a night it won't break the bank either. The small touches like Australian owned and made toiletries made us feel at home right away.
Very neat and tidy kitchen with tea and coffee supplies
Cupboards were stocked with plates, cups, cooking utensils and basically everything you need to have a comfortable stay.
If being close to the beach is important to you, let the staff member booking the cabin know as some cabins are in the caravan park and some are across the road fronting onto the beach - ours was one row of cabins from the beachfront and we still had a great view out at the ocean.
Looking at travelling with your furry friends? Coobowie Caravan Park has designated cabins that allow your dog or dogs to stay with you at the manager's discretion. Call the park to discuss before booking.
This gem of a caravan park was quiet when we stayed in Autumn but I imagine with the beach so close and fishing popular in the area it would be bursting at the seams in the summer peak period.
A range of cabins are available for hire. Please visit the Coobowie Caravan Park website for further information or call the park on 08 8852 8132 to book.
Take the opportunity to explore the region while using the caravan park as your home base; there is plenty to explore including Yorke Town (which also has a bakery and supermarket if you're looking to stock up your pantry) and the picturesque Edithburg.
