Coober Pedy Golf Course

Many people have travelled around the world in search of the most unique and the best golf courses. I'm not sure about the best, but I can certainly share with you one of the most unique; it is the Coober Pedy Golf Course.
I can promise you, at almost all times of the year you will find no grass, no greens and no water.
Forget about the water traps, the only things you will need to worry about here are the sand traps.
And of course, if you choose to play with a white ball, you may never see it again.
Our tour guide advised us that they used to play night golf here and they used glow in the dark balls and some of the localsĀ have taken to using fluorescent orange golf balls.
With no grass and water available to create the green, they have come up with the unique idea of mixing oil with the fine sand to create golf blacks rather than golf greens.
You can visit the golf course by taking a self drive for about two minutes from the main part of Coober Pedy or you may join one of the many tours that take place around the village.
It is actually a sister golf course to a famous golf course in Scotland which has exorbitant fees, many people therefore join theĀ to say they have been part of this prestigious chain.
