This January, Hyde Park Barracks Museum is hosting a series of interactive Convict Barracks Family Fun Tours!
Originally opened in 1819, Hyde Park Barracks was the first convict barracks in the colony and an estimated 50,000 convicts passed through its gates between 1819 and 1848.
This is a unique opportunity for you and your family to discover what life was like for convicts in one of the most significant convict sites in the world!
In this World Heritage listed site, you and your family will work as the convicts did, play a convict game and discover what the archaeology of the site tells us about the past.
Following the tour, you are welcome to explore the museum at your leisure and discover more about Sydney's Convict Story. Swing in a hammock and try on some leg irons, and follow a fun children's trail through the museum!
Choose from the following session times: Tuesdays 9, 16, 23 Jan & Thursdays 11, 18, 25 Jan, 10.30am–11.30am. Bookings are essential and tickets can be purchased online through sydneylivingmuseums.com.au.
