Proof of the contribution academia makes to public debate
The Conversation Yearbook 2017, edited by John Watson, is a new collection of 50 articles that have informed public debate during the course of the past year. They range in content from a FactCheck of the claim that Indigenous Australians are the most incarcerated people on earth, to Joseph Paul Forgas on the surprising benefits of sadness and Stephen FitzGerald on managing Australian foreign policy in a Chinese World. Other contributors include Thalia Anthony, Alan Collins, Rachel Ong, Eileen Baldry and Michelle Grattan.
Hosted by Avid Reader, the book will be launched at The Greek Club with a panel discussion. The discussion panel will consist of Professorial fellow at the University of Canberra and chief political correspondent at The Conversation, Michelle Grattan, Deputy Editor, The Conversation, Charis Palmer and Head of Department, Accounting, Finance and Economics, Griffith Business School, Professor Fabrizio Carmignani.
