HARD BUT FAIR/POINT LESS By Rose Nolan, 2009 - Tunnel/Tent work at GOMA

Queensland's Gallery of Modern Art is awash with color and creativity with the free Contemporary Australia: Women Exhibition. As you walk into the foyer, you are greeted by an enormous rainbow structure, "X-Chromosome" by Hiromi Tango.

The exhibition showcases 70 works by 30 emerging and established female artists, such as The Amata Painters and Deborah Kelly. The multi media works are all inspirational, ranging from painting, film, textiles, photography, video, and sculpture. Margaret Pomeranz (AM) will attend the opening weekend celebrations, to discuss Women in Film, as part of the Contemporary Australia, Women Exhibition.

Fiona Hall's Fly Away Home Exhibition room wall

Fiona Hall has filled the children's space at GOMA with a fun, interactive installation, Fly Away Home. The theme here is everything feathered and children are encouraged to sit at tables and create their own bird in a nest out of recycled shredded newspaper. It is a great way to get children involved in making art and a good excuse to sit for a while to digest all the wonder.
