Time to get creative at Consume

Do you have an event coming up that you would like promoted? Want to start your own brand or spread the word about new product arrivals? How about stepping up your TikTok game? Maybe you're looking for a space with monochromatic elements? If you're from Adelaide and follow at least a small portion of creatives, then you've surely heard of this clean, minimalist-themed, and beautifully-aesthetic space known as Consume Studio. In the off-chance, however, that you haven't, I have been bursting at the seams to share my experience within this space with you, so keep reading if you're curious.

Formerly used as a book binding factory, founder Carlea Atkins has transformed this space to immerse content creators, photographers, videographers, and event stylists (among other creatives) in a playground of ample natural lighting, quirky furniture options, and gorgeous textured backdrops. With 120 square metres of indoor space and 80 square metres of outdoor space, complete with a carport for you to bring your vehicle packed with props, outfits, accessories, and items to shoot a photo or video content with, Consume offers the perfect touch of elegance, comfort, and style to make your content reach new heights.

Props are always coming and going, so it's best to make the most of what's in the space when you visit, as they may not always be available on your next visit. Having said that, there are a few furniture pieces and fixtures that have remained a constant over the last few months while I've used the space and it won't take long to pick the favourites to add that extra juj to your creative project.

There's another reason why it has been an ongoing pleasure to support the ethos of Consume and it is to do with their strong stance on sustainability. While it's all fun and games to go and shoot some content with your latest purchases, it is important to remember that conscious consumerism is promoted here, where the support provided to small/local businesses is favoured over any brands or businesses that are notoriously known to be part of the fast fashion industry. If you are looking to book the studio but have concerns around the brands you may be bringing along for content creation purposes, it is best to contact Carlea beforehand ( or alternatively, you can download the Good On You app, which has not only helped me with identifying current ethical brands that I purchase from, but also fall in love with some that were unknown to me prior.

Personally, I have been using Consume Studio's services since February 2022 and have recently signed up for their three-month-subscription that offers 3x two-hour sessions per month, it is safe to say that it's been an absolute ball of time creating photo content (examples here) and video content (examples here, here, and here) at the Studio. I find Consume's services particularly helpful in content batching, as it seems to be the only way to juggle my 9-5 with my side hustle of creating content for local and national brands and businesses. More importantly though, having the whole space to oneself for a few hours also offers a creative outlet, where there are no distractions and you are surrounded by a quiet and calming environment where your potential can reach new heights.

It has been nothing short of a dream whilst creating at Consume and I encourage anyone and everyone with that spark of creativity to go forth and enjoy the experience that the studio has to offer. In addition to elevating your social media presence, the space has always got surprises sprinkled in every nook and cranny of the studio. From backdrops to furniture to textures to props, there's something for every kind of shot (be it photo-based or video-based).

Consume Studio is located at 28 Dew Street, Thebarton SA 5031 and is open for bookings from Mondays - Saturdays. Weekends are usually booked out in advance, so make sure you jump on the website as soon as possible.
