A love story written in the stars

Last night I watched the international hit CONSTELLATIONS which is currently playing through to the 9th of April at the Bille Brown Studio QUEENSLAND THEATRE.

It's a play where life, love, and science collide and try to make sense of each other.

It asks - What if there are infinite versions of you and I? What if although we are fated to meet every motion is relative, dependant on the choices you make?

Personally I've always loved the idea of a multiverse. Just think, what if there's not just a world where I write reviews while I finish my book but also another, where I move to Canada and write scripts for a DC based CW show!

The genius of Nick Payne's writing is it allows these two characters to live through several story lines at once.

Constellations makes you think about the precious moments we live and the life altering choices we make.

Jessica Tovey (Home & Away, Wolf Creek) and Lucas Stibbard ( The Seagull, Macbeth, Fractions) brilliant performance pulls each universe into focus just long enough to allow us to experience a glimpse of the endless possibilities of love.

It is staged and performed in such a way that you feel their hilarious highs and pain through their heartbreaking lows.

Constellations is performed in quick snap shots scenes that feel like a live choose your own adventure story. Every choice, sways a path. Every mood, influences a response. Every action Roland or Marianne made either brought them together or ripped them worlds apart.

"There is no small amount of symbolism in naming a play about love and quantum physics after random patterns of stars. Each singular burning point is not much on its own, a dot in the black. But when seen alongside its neighbours, clustered together and joined by invisible lines, pictures emerge," said Queensland Theatre Artistic Director Sam Strong.

In what world could a relationship between a Bee Keeper and a Quantum Physicist work? You'll just have to book your ticket to find out.
