Tucked away from the holiday crowds is the secluded Connor's Beach and Walking Track offering spectacular coastal views.

Connor's Beach
Situated in northern NSW, near Kempsey, we started our walk from the footbridge over Korogoro Creek in Hat Head.

Hat Head footbridge
Korogoro Creek is tidal and was at low tide the afternoon we were there. However the creek offers great swimming in crystal clear water when it is at high tide.

Korogoro Creek at low tide
After crossing the footbridge you continue along Gap Rd in Hat Head National Park. At the top of the hill you will come to The Gap with its spectacular ocean views and an inviting yet hazardous beach.

The Gap beach
From the Gap it is an easy one kilometre walk around the headland to Connor's Beach.

Connor's Beach Walking track
The track is well maintained and there are plenty of photo opportunities along the way as the track runs along the rugged coastline.

Spectacular views along the walking track
Along the track you will see many native plants such as the paper daisy and coastal banksia and might be lucky enough to spot one of the vibrant yellow banksia flowers.

Coastal banksia
It is an easy walk, however there are some steep drops down the side of the hill in parts so young children must be supervised. You will feel the coastal breeze on your face and hear the sounds of the Aussie bush on this walk. If you are visiting in summer don't forget to take a hat and apply the sunscreen before you go.

Don't miss this photo opportunity
The crash of the waves breaking on to the sand will greet you as you arrive at Connor's Beach. The beach is fringed with large rocks and O'Connors Hill as its backdrop.

Path down to Connor's Beach
The unpatrolled beach is often empty and there were only handful of people here on this day in peak holiday season. The water is clean and clear and is great for a refreshing swim in the heat of summer. However use caution as rips and strong currents are common at this beach. Of course, children must be supervised.

Connor's Beach
If you are not swimming there are plenty of rock pools to explore. In the shallow water we saw some fish, crabs and a star fish.

The walk to Connor's Beach is a great way to spend an hour or so, enjoying the natural environment and spectacular views of this rugged coastline.
