A great course for upper primary and high school students, with a focus on public speaking, speechwriting and confidence building.

Give your child a skill for life.

Confidence and quick thinking when speaking are important skills all children need. Schools are increasingly assessing children on their speech-craft and ability to speak in front of their peers as well as often requiring students to attend interviews to even get in to prestigious schools. These situations can be daunting for kids, especially if they are shy or have not learned the skills to speak confidently.

Confident Speaking is a public speaking and confidence program for tweens, teens and young adults (Yrs 6 to 12). The course has been designed by a Psychologist with a special interest in children's learning and human communication.

Whether you want your child to be the head of the debating team, or just speak with more confidence, the program caters to all levels, allowing children to develop and succeed at their own pace. Children will learn public speaking and speech-writing skills as well as learning how to speak 'on their feet' (an important skill for life, and one which many adults are lacking!).

During each session, each student is assessed but not scored, with a focus on constructive feedback and praise for achievement. This positive psychology approach has been proven to improve confidence and performance. The unique format of the course also gives every student the chance to "run" their own on and take a leadership role, further developing their confidence.

The best thing about the course is that the groups are kept small, so that each child has an opportunity to shine every week, and is given personal attention.

Jerry Seinfeld once joked that most people are more afraid of public speaking than they are of death - which means that at a funeral most people would rather be in the coffin than giving the eulogy! Don't let this be your child.

Whether your child is very shy or an absolute extrovert, Confident Speaking will help them shine.

Confident Speaking programs are conducted at a state-of-the-art facility in the Hurstville Information Exchange building in Hurstville. The courses are run on Saturday mornings and each session runs for an hour and a half. Courses run during school terms. See the website for details.

Enrolments for Term 2 (starting 18th May) are still available, but places are limited.

And, as an extra bonus, if you mention Weekend Notes when booking your course, you will receive FREE REGISTRATION (Valued at $20).
