Did you know that much of the waste we put into our bins can be recycled or composted? Fruit and vegetable peelings, cores, and other food scraps are components of our everyday waste that can be composted at home.
Don't let your food scraps go to waste, find out how to turn your waste into rich compost at a backyard composting and worm farming at the Eco Living Display Centre on Saturday 10th May, which coincides with International Composting Week (Mon 5th – Sun 11th May).
There will also be a workshop on worm farming for children. Worm composting uses worms to recycle food scraps and other organic material into a valuable soil enhancement called vermicompost. This workshop will be a great way to educate kids on how worms can help, and participating children will be given their very own mini worm farm to take home.
The children worm workshop will run from 10 - 10:45am at a cost of $5. The adults composting workshop will run from 11:30am - 1pm at a cost of $15.
