It may be one of southern Sydney's best-kept secrets, yet it seems anyone who pays a visit to Como Waterfront Cafe can't stop raving about it to their family and friends.
Nestled under the Como Bridge on the edge of the Georges River, this quaint heritage shed is the perfect place to chillout on a Saturday afternoon for a cuppa or brunch on Sunday.
The coffee is great, desserts even better; not to mention the delicious big breakfasts and generous lunches on offer at this local favourite.
Once you've ordered, all you need to do is sit back, soak up the sunshine and watch the flotilla of dinghy's bob up and down just off the marina.
And if you feel the need to work it all off, why not go for a stroll around the nearby Pleasure Grounds or cross the Rail Bridge for a completely different view of the area. Better still, go the full hog and hire a boat from the neighbouring marina for a couple of hours.
Just 40 minutes by train from Sydney's CBD, Como – named for its likeness to Italy’s Lake Como – should definitely be on next weekend’s ‘To Do’ list. But shhh…keep this one to yourself!
You can find the Como Waterfront Café, Marina, as well as a funky new Thai restaurant, just off 2 Cremona Road, Como. It’s only a walk down the road from Como train station.
