Do you love exploring gardens? What if you could explore one garden that has one of the only prehistoric trees left in the world, the Woolemi Pine (Wollemia Nobilis). This plant existed before the Jurassic Period. There is one particularly beautiful specimen reaching 100 ft in height and 45 ft in width and it is a hidden gem within Como Gardens which is open for one weekend in October.

Do you love antique cars? You can stroll through the Vintage Car Museum or join the free tour and view over 15 antique cars including a James Bond specialty car and a car of the royal family, and there are 13 more rare finds.

The museum even has one of the few remaining Bugatti 1927 type 35 C straight eight supercharged grand prix car, capable of a top speed of 220kph. Engine capacity 1910cc developing 130BHP at 5200rpm, single overhead cam shaft through a four speed box.
And it is wonderful to listen to its roar as they start her up.
This car still competes at events.

But if cars don't turn you on, like they reeve me up, then there are acres and acres of gardens to explore including ornamental, formal, wetland, rain forests, and fairy gardens. Face painting and other kids activities are hidden in the Fairy Garden and they have wonderful specialty birds on display showing off their finery. You have to hunt a bit to find the Hobbit House but it is worth the search to find this magical place.

See if you can spot all 55 types of Magnolias during your strolls around the grounds.

Bring a picnic to share or rely on the St John's volunteers as they cook up a mountain of sausages and Devonshire Tea. I have tasted them and they are delicious.

This is all for a good cause, fundraising to support the S.E.S and St John's Ambulance.

Make sure you save time to watch the miniature boat races and sailing ships on the lake. The Titanic might be sinking.

Finally, ALL ABOARD, the miniature train that takes you around even more wondrous sights. This is a fantastic fun day for all of the family.

And this is your chance to see it all this, as George and Pat Hettrel will open their private gardens to the public for one wonderful weekend on 22 and 23 April 2017.

These gardens were initially the homestead and nursery of the William Chandler Family established in 1873 and has many heritage features and plant species. The Royal Botanical Gardens and the Garden Plant Conservation Association of Australia work together with the Hettrel Family to maintain this wonderful space and you will be amazed at the species of plants you will discover on your walks.

And Radio Eastern 98.1 FM will be there on the weekend as well, broadcasting live from their Outside Van, with special interviews with so this is your chance, to meet some of your favourite presenters.
