The Hills will be alive with ... the sounds of drumming; the laughter of children and the happy noise of people having fun.

Thirty kilometres east of Melbourne, in the foothills of the Dandenongs, Como Gardens nestles in beautiful surroundings at 79 Basin-Olinda Road, in the Basin.

With formal gardens, Como Gardens also has an ornamental lake, rainforest and wetlands. The Vintage Car Museum includes Formula 1 racing cars of significance and always attracts lots of visitors.

There was much disappointment last year when the Como Gardens Open Day had to be cancelled in September 2012 as a result of the heavy rains at that time. Extensive damage to the infrastructure, especially the railway and the bridge, was caused and repairs have only just been completed.

Como Gardens are now heavily in preparations for their Family Day which is scheduled for the 17th February. Starting at 10.30am and going through until 4.00pm , Family Day will provide the Hills with one of its most attractive and exciting events for 2013.

The Consul-General of Japan will be presented at 12.45pm and this will be followed by Taiko (Japanese Drumming) with Toshi Sakamoto and his students.

Featuring garden tours and special workshops for adults as well as children, there are a number of events that will be running throughout the day.
