Connect with nature and your community again
There are always so many ways to give back to not only your community but also the environment. And it is so important to try and give back when you can. One of the greatest ways you can meet new people and be able to improve your neighbourhood is with a Community Tree Planting.
By attending this tree planting you have the opportunity to meet more of your neighbours, and plant a tree on your verge (or someone else's!) There are so many good reasons to sign up. This is a family-friendly event and after the tree planting, you get the opportunity to attend a leaf composting workshop as well. During this event, you will learn how to take care of the tree that you have planted and why it is important to have trees in your street.
Not only is it nice to look at, by planting more trees, you can also increase the value of your house and the value of your neighbours too. If you have signed up and RSVPed to this event before the day, and you plant a tree on your front verge, then you will also receive an aftercare package. This package helps you to ensure that the beautiful new sapling has the best opportunity to survive.
And don't worry, most of the hard work will be done for you. That's right, you are not forced to dig the hole to plant the tree. The City will have already done that for you. Volunteers, residents and Tree Captains will all be working in a team. The Tree Captain (which is a great title) will guide you through where to plant and what sort of tree to put in the pre-dug hole. After the tree is planted, you get to name the tree too! Treey McTreeface sounds like a great name!
You are recommended to bring your own gardening gloves, sunscreen, hat and anything else you might want to have with you on the day. There is also a sausage sizzle for everyone afterwards. Although you should have been involved with the planting if you have a hot dog! It's only right. If you bring your children ensure that they are safe while you work. The street will be open to cars at all times. This event takes place between 9 am and 12:30 pm on Jun 25th. Make sure to RSVP pretty quickly, tickets are going quick.
