Community Fun Day on the Yarrowee

The Yarrowee River passes through Ballarat, a community fun day at Redan Wetlands in Sebastopol takes place on 20 July between 10.00am to 1.00pm.

It's part of the 'Breathing Life Back into the Yarrowee' project.


You can participate by cleaning up the Yarrowee by collecting rubbish which is a trap for the city's litter. Participants will go into the draw to win a prize pack.

This project aims to improve the Yarrowee River by undertaking weed control, revegetation, improving facilities and engaging the community on river health issues.


There will be talks and educational displays by the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority, Ray Draper on the wildlife of Ballarat, Hedley Thomson from Ballarat Environment Network on the history of the Yarrowee and John Gregurke from Ballarat Field Naturalist Club on Ballarat flora.

Hot soup will be served from midday.

Come and help rejuvenate the Yarrowee River on 20 July from 10.00am to 1.00pm at Redan Wetlands in Sebastopol.
