Communify Neighbourhood - Reducing social isolation through virtual communities.

A growing number of Australians over the age of 65 years are living alone, and of those living alone, almost half report feelings of social isolation and loneliness. Our research aims to understand and evaluate how a digital virtual community platform may be able to reduce feelings of social isolation for older people.

We are seeking participants between the ages of 55 and 70 years that have their own digital device (desktop, laptop, or tablet computer) and an internet connection.

The project asks that participants join a 5-week program that includes weekly virtual meetings with an online social activity facilitated by the research team. This will occur between Mid-June to Mid-July. Additional time will include surveys and focus groups equating to a total time per week of approximately 2 hours.

To register your interest in the research program or ask any questions, please call Jake at the University of South Australia between the times of 12pm and 3pm on: 08 7228 6801 (South Australian Time Zone)

Jake will take calls during these times Monday to Friday.
