Commonwealth Games Display

Home > Brisbane > Exhibitions | Fun Things To Do | Sport
In 1982, the world turned its gaze on Brisbane as the city hosted the XII Commonwealth Games. The Queensland MuseumÂ’s Commonwealth Games bulkhead display showcases Queensland Museum collection objects related to the 1982 Commonwealth Games.

The display is a nostalgic look at various aspects of the Games, such as volunteer participation and souvenir memorabilia and has the 1982 QueenÂ’s Relay Baton and Commonwealth Games gold, silver and bronze medals as its key highlights.

The celebrations of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, held 35 years later, meet 21st century Queensland, where inclusivity and partnership are the hallmarks.
