Stop and unwind at Common Ground Kitchen, tucked away on a corner of Hurstville Westfield. The coffeehouse offers a comfortable lounge space for knackered shoppers to grab a frothy pick-me-up, and hearty bite from their lunch menu - or all-day brekkie menu, if eggs at 3pm sound like a good idea.



The cafe is one of the quieter spots around here, making for a nice oasis away from more frantic parts of Westfield, let alone streets of Hurstville. Dark timber flooring, cushioned seats and chandeliers give it a homely vibe. You may find the dim space reminds you of that room at home you curl up in, on the couch, with a good book.



Perhaps the homely decor is all part of the plan to entice you into a warm cuppa. On that note, find your list of caffeinated favourites. I tried the Soy Chai Latte here, and found it sweet to the taste, smooth and frothy, and it definitely hit the spot. The baristas know what they're doing. If you're not quite in the mood for coffee, why not try one of their shakes or juices?



The food menu, on the other hand, is a bit of a European smorgasbord. You have platters, pasta, wraps, schnitzel, Portuguese burger, kafta wrap - the list goes on...

I've been resorting to the all-day brekkie menu - namely, the Breakfast Bruschetta (pictured above). This is deliciously fresh with a generous serve of rejuvenating avocado, tomato, and sprouts. All served upon sourdough with sweet balsamic glaze, salty feta to contrast, and two beautiful poached eggs to tie this creation together with a beautiful runny yolk. Heaven on a plate!

I'm yet to taste my way through the range of other nibbles at Common Ground Kitchen. If you aren't quite up for a full meal, then try one of their smaller bites - their sugary cronuts look divine! Enjoy your pick-me-up in this urban hideaway.
