Who are the farmers in your neighbourhood?
The plight of the Aussie farmer has a struck a chord with families throughout the nation. Many Australians are now reconsidering their shopping behaviours and striving to buy fresh produce and products from local sources.

Below is a collection of commercial farming businesses, and their stockists, located within 90 minutes of driving time from Brisbane.

Pure Country Eggs

Pure Country Eggs proudly supplies fresh and genuine free range eggs (they have over 900 chickens that roam freely during the day!)

Eggs can be purchased directly from the farm by prior appointment. Alternatively, they are also stocked by Cafe on Cusack (Jimboomba), Greener Grocer and Wards Driveway (Beaudesert) and Thom & Ann's Restaurant Deli (Yarrabilba).

Scenic Rim Robotic Dairy - 4Real Milk

This family-owned dairy produces the 4Real Milk products - pasteurised only full cream milk and pasteurised only full-fat yoghurts (unsweetened and pot set). Scenic Rim Robotic Dairy also offers "Behind the Scenes" farm tours by appointment.

4Real Milk products are stocked by numerous cafes, supermarket chains, butchers and bakeries (see here).

Maleny Dairies

Maleny Dairies is a family owned business located on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The farm produces a wide variety of dairy products including milk, yoghurts, custard and creams. Members of the public can tour the farm, taste the products and enjoy items from the onsite Milkbar.

Maleny Dairies products can be purchased directly from the farm Mondays to Saturdays, 8:-4:30pm. They are also stocked by a growing number of retailers (see website).

Neighbourhood Farm

This urban farm is situated on an acre of land, growing seasonal produce for the community. Produce can be purchased directly from Neighbourhood Farm every Friday, 2-5pm.

Mt Cotton Organic Fruit & Vege
44 Seaview Road, Mount Cotton, Q 4165

Mt Cotton Organic Fruit & Vege is a family owned and operated farm growing seasonal and organic produce.

Customers can purchase directly from the farm shed Monday to Saturday, 9:00am-6:00pm. Alternatively, a selection of fruit and vegetables are available for purchase at the Millen Farm Markets, every Wednesday from 2:00-5:00pm.

Freeman's Organic Farm

Established in 1915, Freeman's Organic Farm is another family-owned business growing a wide range of seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs.

The business sells directly to the public Fridays to Sundays, from 7:30am – 2.30pm. Produce is freshly picked and sold at prices lower than any commercial supermarket. An onsite cafe also operates during these times.

Discounted produce (25% off marked prices) can also be purchased from the farm every Monday, 7:30am – 2.30pm.

Hillfields Farm
88 Hills Road, Borallon, Q 4306

Hillfield's Farm grows over 50 varieties of seasonal produce and produces free-range eggs and raw honey. The business sells weekly or fortnightly boxes of the freshest organic produce.

Orders can be collected from the farm every Sunday from 10:00am-1:00pm or home delivered every Sunday from 1:00pm.

Millen Farm

Millen Farm is a not for profit organization, established and managed by the community, for the community.

Local, organic, seasonal produce can be bought at the onsite Real Farmers' Market (every Wednesday, from 2:00-5:00pm) or via a box subscription service managed by the farmer.

Allamburra Organics
Tamborine Mountain

This small, family-owned farm grows certified organic produce. Allamburra Organics currently sells free-range eggs, avocados and citrus fruits. They are also stockists for a selection of organic dairy products, drinks and treats that are produced elsewhere in Australia.

Orders are made online and delivered directly to the customer.

Jarvis Fresh Strawberry Farm

Jarvis Fresh Strawberry Farm is a family owned business with over 40 years of operation. Strawberries are picked daily for maximum sweetness and freshness. Other seasonal produce is also grown.

Customers can purchase directly from the farm, 8:30am-5:30pm, 7 days a week.

This business offers "Pick Your Own Strawberries" from August to October. Strawberries can also be purchased from the farm store, along with assorted specialty foods and health products from selected local businesses (9:00am-5:00pm daily).

Spring Mountain Honey sells 100% raw Australian honey, beeswax and lip balm.

Items can be purchased directly from the farm gate, by arrangement through message or telephone call. Products are also stocked at Mazz and Co Nursery (Park Ridge) and Mycube, Garden City.

Rueban & Ketura's Honey and Honeycomb

In addition to 100% raw Australian honey and honeycomb, this business also sells a range of beeswax products, including balms, candles and soaps.

Customers can purchase and collect from Rueban & Ketura's 7:00am-7:00pm daily (prior arrangement by telephone or message required). Online orders can posted.

Pete's Honey

Pete's Honey sells honeycomb, raw and unprocessed/unfiltered honey.

Purchases can be made directly from the farm, by prior arrangement. The business regularly attends local markets, follow their Facebook page for updates. Alternatively, online orders can be shipped worldwide.

Wholefood Harvest Organic Market

Wholefood Harvest Organic Market sources produce from local farmers. Customers can select from a range of fruit, vegetables, dairy, meat, fridge or pantry items or purchase via a subscription box service.

Orders are collected each Wednesday and produce is picked and packed within 48 hours. Numerous collection points and delivery options are available within the Southern Brisbane, Logan and Scenic Rim areas.

Wholefood Harvest Organic Market has also established a pop-up stall, operating each Friday from Cafe Cusack (Jimboomba).

Norco is a 100% Australian farmer-owned dairy co-operative with 326 active members on 214 dairy farms in South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales. They produce a range of dairy products, including milk, cheeses, yoghurts, creams, custards and butters.

Products are widely available at Coles, Woolworths and selected independent supermarkets.
