For comic book enthusiasts and those wanting to discover and delve deeper into comic books, Ashfield Library, 260 Liverpool Rd, Ashfield, will be holding a Comic Con-versation from 3.30-8pm on Saturday 21 July 2018. This is a celebration of the best in local comic culture, where you get to relax on a Saturday evening and delve into comics, talks and music. Live music will be performed by geek pop singer-songwriter Meri Amber, so relax and get ready to meet and mingle with local talented comic creators, with an opportunity to buy their books, comics and art.

Charged with enthusiasm, have a browse through the library's graphic novel collection and you might find something you'd like to take home. For more information, check the Facebook page, and look up the many Comic events on the event page, as similar events are being run in many other libraries, one of which may be closer to you. Please note, though these are free events, you are required to register for numbers for all events, bar one i.e. Greg Sindel The Pruning.

3.30-4.30pm - You can die from exposure: a panel on freelancing. If you've got dreams of becoming a creative freelancer but don't quite know where to start, this is a good one presented by Sydney Comics Guild. It's MC'd by Hilary Sandeman - humorous illustrator and features Regine Clarke, Marcelo Baez, Anthony Calvert, Mike Barry and Louie Joyce. Bookings preferred for this event.
5-8pm - Comic Con-versation. Mingle with comic creators from 5pm in the Artists' Alley, where you can purchase their books, comics and art. Bookings appreciated for this event.
5-8pm - Greg Sindel The Pruning . Have yourself interviewed by artist Greg Sindel from Studio A. From the info given by you, Greg will create a drawing based on your alter-ego or superhero. You are free to take the drawings with you when done. He'll be downing his pen at 7.15pm so be sure to get in early. Greg will then perform a 30 min reading from his most recent graphic novel The Pruning, produced by Leigh Rigozzi. Bookings are not required for this event, as it'll be first come first served.
6-7pm - Storytelling in Comics: the art of storytelling panel. Get insight into how comic creators get their story ideas and how they tell their stories in comic form. Sydney comics writer Christof Bogacs will moderate this engaging discussion with comic creators Marcelo Baez, Queenie Chan and Rob Feldman. Time will be allocated for Q&A at the end of the session. Bookings are preferred for this one.
