With what started in 1970 in the basement of a building with a bunch of guys swapping comics in the U.S., Comic Con has since grown into much more with conventions from San Diego to Chicago and Brisbane to Perth. Sydney's event is coming soon and apart from comics and toys involving superheroes, posters and collectibles, there's video games and movies, and you may even see the unveiling of a new TV series or one of your favourite actors in costume.

Film and TV guests appearing in Sydney include Booboo Stewart from X Men, Jason Momoa from Game of Thrones and William Shatner from Star Trek. Comic and publishing guests from Marvel Comics, DC Super Friends, Star Wars and Teen Titans, to name a few, will also attend. You'll have the chance to listen to your favourite actors answer questions on a stage.

There will be screenings of the original Samurai series from the 1960's and The Devil is a Part-Timer, where you find the evil Satan flipping burgers at MgRonald. Add to this workshops and exhibitors selling original art, autographs, photograph sessions with celebrities, clothing and official Oz Comic Con merchandise, and you've got a massive event. You can even apply to have your own booth and sell any paraphernalia you no longer want.

If that's not enough, you may want to attend a guest dinner for a couple of hours with one of your favourite guests. There's a limit of 10 attendees for each guest dinner so you will need to pre-book so you don't miss out. Prices vary depending on which guest you choose to dine with and start at $200 for Mark Sheppard up to $400 for the Ultimate Shatner Experience. Apart from the dinners, normal entry is $30 per adult for one day or $50 per adult for the whole weekend. One child aged 4-12yrs can enter free with each paying adult, else children are half price. For fans and lovers of pop culture, this event is on at the temporary Sydney Exhibition Centre on Glebe Island, the new home for some events whilst Darling Harbour is under re-construction. There are a few options for getting there. Free ferries run from the Convention Jetty at Darling Harbour and free buses from Central Station and Murray St, Darling Harbour or you can drive and park onsite at a flat rate of $35 if you enter before 12 noon.

Dress up in your favourite costume and enjoy the fun to be had at this event.
