These summer holidays, it's a great idea to get into the great outdoors – so why not pick up a paddle and 'Come 'n' Try' Canoeing ?

This is an activity designed especially for kids to try during the school holidays (ages 10 or older), and will be held at a great beach location: Nudgee Beach Reserve. All kids need to bring a change of clothes, food, a towel, a bottle of water, a hat and sunscreen. For just $5, it' well worth it.

Hosted by Queensland Canoeing, the organisation ensures the "competition, safety, coaching and opportunity for participation at all levels", whether you're a beginner or a pro. If the latter, now is a good time to sign up for membership with Queensland Canoeing. With a current membership of over 1000 members and 26 affiliated clubs, there's plenty of reasons to join, including free training, discounted prices at Queensland Canoeing courses and events, access to official competitions, and much more. For more information, please visit the website . As an added bonus, Queensland Canoeing has several partners that offer unique offers to Queensland Canoeing members, such as holiday packages, gifts and the like.

Of course, there are several different types of canoeing that you can try out as a member, such as canoe sprints, canoe marathons, canoe polo, and even sea kayaking, wild water and more. There is a membership fee, which covers insurance, issuing of membership cards, etc., please see the website on how you go about becoming an official member. The 'Come 'n' Try' Canoeing day is one of the more relaxed activities compared to most competitions and other events that Queensland Canoeing holds, so even if you have never canoed before, this is a great opportunity to do so in a fun, friendly environment.

So for a fun day out on the water, why not attend the 'Come 'n' Try' Canoeing day? It's a great idea for a day event, and if you are canoeing for the first time, it's probably a good idea to call your friends and go as a group. Instructors will be there on the day to help you during the activities, so you won't be alone. If you are running out of school holiday boredom busters, this is a great one to try. And once you get the hang of it, it'll be hard to stop. Canoeing is certainly a great sport that's easy going, relaxing, and best of all; fun. For more details, please see the website . While you're there, don't forget to sign up to the newsletter to stay in the loop for upcoming events.

This is a great recreational activity to participate in, so grab your friends and head to Nudgee Beach for the 'Come 'n' Try' Canoeing day. For more information, please phone 3349 1933/0415 412 488.
