Columbus Coffee can be found within Mitre 10 Mega Warehouse in Pukekohe. If I was not invited to this cafe, I probably would never have known it was there.



It is tucked at the back of Mitre 10 near the garden supplies. I thought it was very apt to have a cafe in this area, surrounded by shrubs and greenery. Notably, there is still the option to sit inside or outside.



We ordered our coffee and food at the counter. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. There was an array of tasty morsels to choose from, however, I had already had an early breakfast and I was more interested in the sweet options.



I have found, in the past, that one can quickly determine the quality of a cafe through the brownies they make. It might sound a little quirky, however, I feel that if a cafe can get the basics right then everything else will be extraordinary.



Apart from the brownie, I ordered an almond flat white and a cappuccino. Arguably, I was putting this cafe to its test. Almond milk can be quite tricky to steam. If you heat it up too much, there is a separation of solids and water. The unfortunate result is a very bad cup of coffee.

The coffee arrived quickly and they had made both options perfectly. The almond milk was creamy and the coffee was proportion flawlessly.



The brownie arrived soon after with a dash of cream. It was moist with a perfect balance of chocolate. It was not too sweet and not too bitter. I would argue that Columbus Coffee perfected the brownie.

Initially, I was interested in just a small taste. However, I found myself devouring the whole thing. It was most definitely, enjoyable.



If you are looking for a new coffee experience, I would recommend venturing down to Mitre 10 in Pukekohe to visit Columbus Coffee. It is open 7 days a week, however, I would argue that the weekends would be busier. As such, if you are looking for a quieter experience, the weekday may be a better option.
