A much-anticipated event is about to commence at the Art Gallery of South Australia. It's the "" and it's an event that is exclusive to Adelaide.

For 4 months, starting from the 29th of March, we will be treated to the viewing of Impressionist masterpieces from the world-renowned collection of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris .

Some of the paintings on display at the exhibition are by master painters Monet, Renoir, Manet, Morisot, Pissarro, Cézanne and many others.

The exhibition will be held in the Elder Wing, which has been emptied of its usual 700 artworks to make space for the 70 very special paintings in this rare exhibition.

The Art Gallery is open every day of the year (except Christmas Day) from 10am to 5pm. Guided tours will be held daily at 11am, 2pm and 3pm. The tours come free with any ticket purchase.

On the first Friday of each month , the Art Gallery stays open until 9pm - a great time to visit and view the exhibition and to enjoy some live entertainment while there.

The Art Gallery Food Wine restaurant will be offering a French-inspired cafe menu too. Bookings at the restaurant can be made by ringing 8232 4366.

There are morning teas, lunchtime talks, curator talks and member-only events that will run each week throughout the program. Check the Art Gallery's website for more information on these.
