No good ever came from idle hands: Here’s a way to keep busy
Battling to keep the family entertained during our "new normal"? I've shared previously my experiences at Colour My Pot, a pottery painting outlet in Brisbane's Redlands area.
With the Coronavirus, they are no longer able to offer painting in the studio at 39 Middle Street, Cleveland. So, being passionate about their business, and understanding that art is a form of mindfulness, Colour My Pot has recently launched an online store.
I recently completed a kit from home whereby I painted an egg cup as an Easter gift. The kit included clear instructions, the coloured paints I requested, paintbrushes and a plastic plate. Once completed and dried, I returned my piece to the studio for it to be fired. Generally, the firing is completed within 7 and 10 days, which is when it is ready for collection.
Just because you are painting from home doesn't mean you will be stuck for inspiration either. Colour My Pot has created a dedicated Facebook page full of fun ideas to support and encourage your creativity.
There are a variety of prepared kits to keep the children busy or you can make your own Take Home kit online - here.
Not only can you purchase kits to complete at home in your own time, there are also classes that you can watch live online to inspire your creativity. These classes not only include how to paint a ceramics piece, but also how to make clay figurines.
You read that correctly: the next At Home Clay Class will be held on Thursday, 16th of April, at 2 pm, where you can learn how to make you own Clay Gnome!
