I am a copywriter and cake eater with a funny name squeezing delight from life in the Perth Hills with two invigorating teenagers, a cyclone of a toddler, and some geese.

I'm sure I wasn't always afraid of colour
So how did I end up wearing all black, all the time?
I have to admit, I've never attended a colour workshop before because the presenters all seem to be eight foot tall, skinny glamazons. So I've told myself that they won't understand me or what I'm trying to play down.
For starters; she's delicious. With her crisp English accent and her ability to laugh through anything, she makes you feel instantly at ease. She's also like a painting - completely unafraid of colour and positively bursting with just the right amount of prettiness and zest. She absolutely knows her stuff and is always ready with a workable solution to any (concern, belief, question) thrown her way.
Somewhere between studying at WAAPA and becoming a Mother for the third time, black made its way into my wardrobe. I don't particularly like black, but working in corporate communications for over a decade seemed to allow black to seep its way into my dress sense. I found I was terrified of colour, of looking "too much", of being over the top.
In a room of around 10 other women, we learned about what colour palettes worked for our individual skin type, how to dress not only for our shape but for our personality (nice!) and how to shop effectively.
Kate also banned black from my wardrobe. I have a luscious, rich charcoal to work with instead.
Kate's motto is: Complete Style Confidence for Real Women with Real Bodies. She sure delivers. Not only did I learn about colour and how to work with it, how to be clever with my clothes budget, but I also experienced a bit of a mindset shift about myself to boot.
Now, that's completely worth spending a morning drinking coffee, trying on scarves, and learning about beautiful things, isn't it?
In addition, in my inbox the following day was a detailed PDF about my personality dress style and my colours (which are Refined, by the way, of course!)
Kate runs Colour workshops throughout Perth, and you can also book her for a wardrobe renovation or book her for something wicked called The Full Kate Kaboodle.
There's also a Retro Shopping Trip that looks wonderfully fun.
