This exhibition will colour your world for the day
With the plummeting temperatures, our minds tend to turn to hot chocolates and good coffee, don't they? Too cold for a pub crawl, the Redlands Coast with its Moreton Bay views and natural bushland, is a hotbed of cafes of all sorts and sizes, though a coffee crawl has a totally different connotation to beer and bubbles. A touch of sophistication, or perhaps, culture?
This makes a visit to the Old Schoolhouse Gallery in Cleveland imperative. This community-run gallery displays the work of local artists, which includes handcrafted bespoke gift lines such as coasters featuring ocean scenes and jewellery, as well as the occasional art demonstration.
Housed in a heritage-listed property at 124 Shore Street North, the five separate display rooms allow for the members' artwork to change on a monthly basis. This month's display, on view until 27th of June, is titled Colour and Light. Let me assure you that on the dreary winter day we visited, the bright colours of the glassware and paintings on display were totally uplifting and cheerful. For a sneak peek of what's on offer, go here.
Gallery entrance is FREE, and is open Thursday through to Sunday from 9:30am till 4:30pm.
If you're travelling to the Redlands Coast for a day out, or are local and catching up with friends, add the Old Schoolhouse Gallery to your Must Do List straight after that first coffee. It will indeed "warm you up".
