Here's the crafty lowdown:
Polymer Clay Jewellery Workshop
When and where: 2 July, 11am - 1pm, Mie's Cafe, Spotswood Cost: $95pp
In association with Colour Box Studio, the Aacute jewellery workshops use geometric shapes you are probably familiar with in modern day necklace bead designs. The 2 hour workshop, which covers all of your materials, guides you through a creative process to design, shape and assemble polymer clay into beads. You'll be guided how to bake your beads and how to take care of your designs once you leave.
Workshops take place in a relaxed cafe environment, and are designed to be casual, social, relaxed yet fully immersive in jewellery making. You will go home with a goodie bag at the end of your class.
Printmaking: Introduction to Etching When and where: 9 July, 11am - 3pm, VU at MetroWest, Footscray. Cost: $125pp
Introduction to etching
Delve into the incredible world of printmaking with Colour Box Studio's brand new printmaking workshop, Introduction to Etching with artist Lucy Buxton.
In this class you will create four of your very own prints using a drypoint etching method. You will learn how to engrave your design into a perspex plate as well as produce multiple editions of your artwork using a direct-drive etching press. Experiment with different colours and inks.
If you've ever fancied having a go at screen printing, this is your opportunity to do so. Over the course of the day, you will learn the basics of screen printing from designing your own artwork to printing your design onto fabric.
It doesn't matter if you are not the artistic type, even simple shapes look great printed onto fabric.
Make your own clay plant pot and planter in Colour Box Studio's brand new workshop led by Melbourne artist Carolyn Warren.
Go home with a fabulous plant pot, made with your very own hands. You will learn how to craft with clay, and follow with texturing, staining and other decorative techniques. You will have access to a variety of moulds shapes. How you finish off your planter, is up to you!
