Modern technology has many benefits to photography, with fancy digital cameras and smart phones giving us instant images to view, although it doesn't seem all that long ago that we would have to wait for a camera film to be developed at a store before we could see a photograph we had taken.
In some ways, today's technology has taken away some of that suspense. Having said that, disposable cameras still give us a little excitement to see what photographic delights can be revealed when developing a camera film.
To celebrate disposable cameras, photography, and the beautiful city of Melbourne,
Colour Box Studio has launched the
Disposable Camera Project: Third Edition in partnership with Ruffian Gallery and supported by
Prism Imaging.

Running as a Pozible crowdfunding campaign, the Disposable Camera Project is a Melbourne-wide participatory photography project. For a participation fee, Colour Box Studio will provide participants with a disposable camera with which to go snap happy in Melbourne over a 24hr period.
Budding photographers will pick up a disposable camera at various pick-up points on 20 September, handing back the device on 21 September. All camera films are then developed and printed by Prism Imaging, and Colour Box Studio together with
Ruffian Gallery staff will filter through hundreds of images to feature in the Third Edition exhibition opening on 2 October 2014 from 6pm-9pm.
