Get ready for a colorful day out with family and friends this October as the 'Happiest 5k Run on the Planet' returns to Brooklyn thanks to partners like Shout, Kind Snacks and Global Citizen. The Color Run is a fun sporting event that marries laughter, partying and exercise with lots of vivid paint.
Originating from the US, the Color Run is now the single largest paint-run series around the globe with events in 27 countries including Belgium, China, Netherlands, Brasil, Australia, Singapore, Mexico etc. Since January 2012, it has expanded to over 200 cities including Sydney, Paris, Amsterdam, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Tokyo, Munich etc. With tickets to the New York event on 18 October up for grabs, here are 5 colorful reasons to get yours before they are all sold out.
This is a fun run. It is not timed. There are no world records to break. No competitors to battle it out. Just grab your family and friends, and enjoy a fun time out together, all covered in colors at the end of the day. Your ticket also includes some fun and colorful stuff. There is a custom t-shirt, tricolor headband, tattoos, shoulder sling bag and more. Plus, there's the fun pre-race party with music, dancing, warm-up and giveaways, and the great post-run party with massive color throws at the finish line.
If you always wanted a full makeover with vibrant colors, this unique event is the one to join. There is no other 5 kilometer run where you start all dressed in white and finish plastered with color. At each stage of the run, you and thousands of fellow participants will be doused from head to toe in colored powder. Then colored some more at the finish line with a gigantic dousing "Finish Festival" creating millions of vivid color combinations. Good news is the powder is made from 100% natural food-grade corn starch and can be removed easily after the run.
The organizers are introducing unique Kaleidoscope attractions on the course that offer great fun when you walk, run or dance through one. They offer incredible photo opportunities along the course and at the Finish Festival
Everyone can join in

The run is open to participants of all ages and fitness levels. You will meet professional athletes and first time runners and athletes to 80 year old seniors and babies in prams, and even the guy in the wheelchair. Since there's no real hurry to get anywhere fast, you can walk, run, dance, crawl and even cartwheel to the finish line, dressed in full colors.
Run for a cause
While the Color Run is not a charity, it has donated more than $3 million to charity since 2012. It supports charitable causes by spreading the word for organizations like the Children's Cancer & Blood Foundation and Global Citizen who lead a movement to end extreme poverty. You can nominate your charity for the event by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
