If you believe the social media hype you haven't lived until you've done a colour run.

The Color Me Rad 5K fun run aims to brighten your life and raise your spirits but that's not all. It's not just about you - a portion of the proceeds will benefit a local charity. Starting as a blank canvas, you run 5 kilometres through an explosion of colour, then finish as your own masterpiece. The finish line is known as the "royal rumble of colour" with colour bombs going off every 15 - 20 minutes.

Inspired by the Hindu festival of Holi, or festival of colours, the Color Me Rad run invites you to run, jog, walk, skip or dance your way to the finish line through the rainbow of colours. Participating will give you plenty to talk about, fond memories and awesome photos for your Facebook page.

If you're really not in to running but still want to be involved you can volunteer to be part of the Colour Bomb Squad if you are over 16 years old.

What you need to know:

  • The coloured dye is non-toxic and is made from coloured corn starch

  • Wear something white to experience the full effect of the coloured dye

  • All ages are welcome. Children under the age of 7 run for free with a paying adult and everyone under the age of 18 must bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian

  • The registration fee includes entry to the run, a t-shirt, sunglasses, race bib and a donation to a local charity

  • A portion of the proceeds will benefit a local charity - each race location will have a different charity partner

  • This event is untimed and there are no winners and no prizes. It is all about the experience and being showered with coloured powder at stations along the run.

Color Me Rad is bringing a tsunami of colour to a town near you in 2015. Starting with the Gold Coast in May, then coming to Chipping Norton in south west Sydney on 13th June. Other race locations are scheduled for Newcastle, Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Adelaide, Geelong and Perth. Tell your friends and check out the website for all of the details.
