Flushing the 'junk' from your body
Detox is a buzz word thrown around everywhere connected with weight loss, celebrities, fitness, health, well being and de-stress. The how's are overwhelming, confusing and complex at times. But which way do you go about it?
I just could not face the thought of subjecting myself to the misery of yet another hideous diet, consuming 10 'magical' pills a day or another senseless treadmill running in circles like a rat in a laboratory going nowhere fast.
Letting go, I turned my thoughts to spring cleaning my home, getting rid of junk, washing and cleaning everything in sight.
At the end of the week-end, I curled up on my lounge with a book and a euphoric sense of freshness and lightness washed over me. Wouldn't it be great if somehow I could spring clean my body to achieve the same results?

A few days later, I met up with a friend. She was bouncing, bubbly and bright, I thought she was either on drugs or in love. Her face was fresh, her eyes sparkled and she had lost quite a bit of her extra padding. I so had to ask her what was going on in her life. She told me about her venture with Colonic Hydrotherapy. Hmmm, it made sense to me after spring cleaning my home, so I did a little research, including Colon Care Centre's website, where my friend went. It explains 'What is a colonic and colonic irrigation why do we need it?'
Basically, detoxing allows your body to rid the accumulated toxins that build up with poor diet, medications, harmful pollutants in the air and water. Allowing your body to function effectively to maximise your metabolism to reduce weight, tension and enhance energy levels.
During winter, our body naturally slows down, we eat heavier foods, drink less water and our physical activity decreases. We plateau and chunk on some extra unwanted kilos.
Towards the end of winter, our liver naturally wants to spring clean the body. With all that junk and toxin build up in your colon, it is screaming to be hydrated to be able to do its natural job effectively; eliminate. Hmmm, a bit like sweeping your pavers with a rake as opposed to hosing them down for a really good clean.
I'm liking this simplicity, gentle and fresh clean water.
Oh I also found out many celebrities practice this on a regular basis for weight loss, glowing skin and high energy.
I made an appointment with an open mind and perhaps a smidge of scepticism at Colon Care Centre prepared and looking forward to my internal spring clean.
I met with Anna who has been a colon hydro-therapist for over 16 years, as well as a nutritionist and an RPA weight loss practitioner.
She was with me during the process gently massaging my stomach to release any blockages and explaining what was going on in my colon, which by the way I found fascinating. Anna gave me a simple and easy nutritional program to correspond with my body and I grabbed a tin of their G.I.T. Tea which assists in repairing and detoxifying your organs and digestive system @ $25 and off I went. The process was quite simple and I was out within the hour with surprisingly immediate effects; I felt cleaned and light! Just like my home felt after the massive clean up.
Over the following days and weeks, sipping on my new tea, I noticed a natural gravitation towards healthier eating and raised energy levels all with little conscious effort. Huh, go figure! I had shed some unwanted kilos without expending huge amounts of effort on a dreaded treadmill. Also subtle desire grew to begin a fun and gentler approach to exercising. My skin looked and felt plumper and softer, which at my age is a huge plus. Yes, I am on happy little Vegemite.
I am more than a little converted to regularly spring cleaning my body, it makes so much sense to me. The added bonus is that I don't have to punish my body with all those weird and wacky diets or gruelling exercise regimes. Phew!
Information: Colonic Irrigation has been safely practised for quite some time and you would be surprised at just how many people do this on a regular basis. Being rather personal, it's just not a subject to chat about with co-workers around the office or at dinner parties.
Just like spring cleaning you home, it makes sense to introduce a regular detoxification or spring clean with your body and into your life.
A Colonic Irrigation costs: $95 which includes a nutritional program for your body. Time: 1 hour.
