Some of the best things in life were created accidentally. Like Alexander Fleming putting mould under the microscope, or Frank Epperson leaving his soft drink out overnight and making a popsicle. The magic of Collies & Co. happened when cafe owners with a side hobby breeding Border Collies modified their cafe to accommodate their puppies and a matter of necessity quickly became a success.
Collies & Co. is a warm, cheerful cafe located in the heart of Samford Valley. The cafe offers a range of sweet (banana peanut butter French toast) and savoury (prime rib steak, crab linguine) options and is open Monday to Saturday from 7am to 3pm. But while the staff are friendly and the coffee is good, the main thing people come to Collies & Co. for is the Puppy Experience.
The Puppy Experience is 90-minutes of food, drink and puppy cuddling. The booking starts with a 45-minute lunch, including a Clearskin coffee or other beverage and a selection from the menu, in the al fresco dining area, where you can watch the puppies play. After your meal, you can dive on in and enjoy a 45-minute play and cuddle with the puppies. This experience is available Monday to Friday and occasionally on weekends. Bookings are essential and can be made online through their website.
Dog-lovers can also purchase the Puppy Experience as a private party, which includes a personal sectioned-off party area and one hour of puppy cuddling.
The Puppy Experience is supervised by vet nurses and students and they welcome any questions the public have about puppies at the cafe or dogs in general. The owners of Collies and Co. also recommend that you leave your own pup at home, as they sometimes get distressed when people enter the puppy yard and leave them behind.
As well as the cafe and Puppy Experience, Collies and Co. also offers a dog store, where you can get treats and swag for your four-legged friend.
