Bushrangers, Rock Climbing, and Pumpkins
My family visited the Collector Village Pumpkin Fair and barely saw the pumpkins. We arrived at 10:00am sharp and stayed until 4:00pm but we were too busy to go over and see the main pumpkin foods, shows, and contests.
There was a petting zoo, fantastic live entertainment, free Cobb & Co coach rides. a hay maze, a marching band, a hundred different stalls and a historical chase and battle between bushrangers and police.
The crowds were incredible; 10,000 visitors to a town of 200 people - but everyone was gracious and cheerful, and had a great time.
With the exception of three fairground-style rides, every activity was free. The $10 (cash!) entry fee was well worth it.
The only down side of the festival was that it was so popular that it was tricky finding a park and getting around - but only because it really deserved its excellent reputation.
