Event:
Unearth Some Gems At This Terrific Community Event
Despite the numerous retail options that are available to us here in Perth, the allure of shopping in a traditional community market never seems to wane. Whether you're a die-hard market girl or simply enjoy the convenience of buying handmade wares and fresh produce straight from the creator or grower, we all have our local favourites. Although Perth has its fair share of great markets, with new ones popping up all the time, one of my personal favourites would have to be Collective Treasures, a quarterly community market that takes place in Victoria Park. The next one will coincide with the popular Australia-wide event, Garage Sale Trail, on Saturday October 24th from 10.00am until 2.00pm at the undercroft carpark of The Park Centre, situated at 789 Albany Highway in East Vic Park.

An incentive of the Vic Park Collective, the spring edition of Collective Treasures will be so much more than 'just' another weekend market. The event will feature a car boot sale, great live family-friendly entertainment and delicious refreshments not to mention, loads of fabulous stalls selling everything from vintage delights and handmade gifts to home-grown vegies, potted plants, retro bargains and quirky bric-a-brac.

There will also be live art happening with local artist Zafir creating a masterpiece, followed by a silent auction of the work. And unlike some markets, Collective Treasures isn't just an elite shopping precinct for grown-ups. Awesome stuff for the children to enjoy as their parents trawl through the treasure includes circus performers, a special kids' zone, face-painting and several creative workshops promoting sustainability and recycling. It's the kind of place where you can easily chill out for several hours with your family and friends.

In a nutshell, if you're a market-lover or even a potential seller, Collective Treasures is an event that you may want to check out. For more information about the event, take a look at the Collective Treasures Facebook page or email the organisers at collectivetreasuresvicpark@gmail.com. Entry is free for buyers and $10.00 for sellers.
